Its latest episode, named “The Cities”explored a social phenomena in the heart of one of the biggest polluters among all countries – the U.S.
The show focused on several factors, however, it revealed a piece of information that is not well known among the public. On the roofs of Manhattan’s buildings, one can encounter a spectacular scene – there people producing bee honey in the special bee hives are developing one of the greenest approaches in delivering foods to the public. The New York bee keepers distribute almost 7 tons of honey annually and with the increase in the awareness of people, it is expected that this number would have even higher rates in the near future.
The occupation attracts thousands every year from all social groups – from lawyers to environment lovers. It is a greener way of supplying the food chain, a good method for generating income and a contribution to the New Yorker’s green areas. The impact of such activity is zero percent pollution and a hundred percent of productivity. Thousands of tons of honey are distributed among the New York stores and only with a simple bee keeping activities the New Yorkers can change this and consume self-produced honey with no carbon footprint. The city itself is a self storage of thousands of green production opportunities.
